Phonological awareness
The ability to work with sounds in spoken language, sets the stage for decoding, blending, and, ultimately, word reading.
Phonemic awareness
Is a subset of phonological awareness in which listeners are able to hear, identify and manipulate phonemes, the smallest mental units of sound that help to differentiate units of meaning.
Phonics
is a method for teaching people how to read and write an alphabetic language. It is done by demonstrating the relationship between the sounds of the spoken language, and the letters or groups of letters or syllables of the written language.
